Named after the Inuit word for ice, Hyko is a smart and interactive polar bear lamp and app that grows with the family (see the video). This playful EdTech educates and entertains children about smart energy consumption and its impact on the environment, shaping their daily routines and empowering them to become the energy heroes of their homes.

Hyko is a Tech4Good startup that was named as “The Best Parenting Tech And Gadget From CES 2018” by Fatherly.

We want YOU to be part of our mission. Launching soon, we looking for Community Manager to grow our community initiative. As a Community Manager you will be enabling a successful launch and making an impact for millions of families thereafter. Hyko just brings a smile on the people’s face when they encounter him - making the job so much more meaningful.

What you will be doing in 3 points (Acquisition & Engagement):

  1. Building trust and loyalty with a dedicated community of pre-order customers for a launch campaign of the new product. You will spent half of your day doing a user research to better understand target audience pains and needs and how to bring the value. Next to that, identifying potential channels and partnerships that will drive community growth and building the relationship.

  2. Be the face and voice of Hyko brand, either online via social media, blog, emails, chat or offline events and conferences. You will continually strive to improve the brand visibility while creatively sharing the brand story and its mission or generating content in all it’s forms. .

  3. Combining your connection to the community, understanding of the customer needs you will collaborate on the product roadmap and be responsible for the frequent feedback loops to improve and increase the product value to the users. And no worries, we love all sorts of ideas - your strong connection to community will be a juice for team’s inspiration and admiration.

And of course learning! You’re going to learn all bits and pieces about our hardware, software, materials and designs inside and out.


  • 3+ years of experience in the relevant roles as content specialist/copywriter or social media manager with a firm understanding of community engagement and target audience of parents and kids.

  • Fluent in written and spoken English. Dutch considered a plus. A proven blend of editorial and storytelling skills, including short-form (copywriting), long-form (articles and blog posts) and video content 

  • Ability to enable the community for action. One of the most important responsibilities of a community manager's job is not to continue to push the brand's message, but to empower the audience and give it a voice.

  • Good knowledge of analytics, web metrics and SEO best practices that gauge content performance.

  • Passion for smart living, energy, sustainability, smart and educational toys and gadgets.

  • A personality that thrives in small, collaborative, entrepreneurial teams.


  • Ideally 3+ years of experience within relevant sectors: EdTech, Toy, Gaming, Children’s entertainment, Consumer Electronics.

  • Degree in Journalism, English, Marketing, Communication, Psychology or relevant fields.
